2. Avoid excessive use of cutting oil, and be sure to clean the workpiece thoroughly within one day after cutting; otherwise, the edges may easily corrode.

3. The edging speed must not be too high; for beveling, keep it below approximately 2 m/min. Ensure an adequate supply of cooling water, and never perform dry grinding. If the edging is too fast, the lens will overheat, which can easily cause delamination of the coating and silver layer.

4. During edge grinding, cooling water, polishing water, and chemical solutions should be replaced as the pH changes; the pH is generally maintained between 7 and 8. For the film‑processing machine, it is best to use clean tap water and ensure that the water quality remains consistently clean.

5. After edge grinding, the silver mirrors should be promptly cleaned, dried with compressed air, and then stored. During packaging, operators must wear gloves to prevent sweat from contaminating the mirror edges; spacers and adhesive beads must be made of sulfur-free materials, and nylon cords should be kept clean and neutral.

6. Edge grinders and film processors must be cleaned regularly, and the condition of the grinding wheels should be inspected frequently; severely worn wheels must be replaced immediately.

7. If edge sealing is required for the silver mirror, ensure that the edges are clean and free of contaminants; the adhesive must have a neutral pH. Otherwise, any dirt, polishing powder, nitrogen‑containing substances, sulfides, or bacterial residues on the edges may compromise the seal.
